Journey to Independence

A Beautiful Environment Conducive to Learning

The environment is intentionally prepared from the perspective of the toddler. Furniture is complementary to the height and weight of the child. Materials are placed on low two- or three-tier shelves for accessibility - cultivating the development of the toddler’s independence, sense of order, and confidence.

Montessori Classroom

A Joyful Experience

Dr. Maria Montessori proclaims, “A child who has become master of his acts through long and repeated exercises, and who has been encouraged by the pleasant and interesting activities in which he has been engaged, is a child filled with health and joy and remarkable for his calmness and discipline.”

The Montessori environment invites the child to try new activities, make personal connections, and have the freedom to process information at their own pace. Through the absorption of language, the child is able to be a more expressive human, communicating their needs, thoughts, and feelings. We often hear, “I did it!” when a child persists through a challenge such as placing their socks over their feet. Looking upon a sea of smiling faces or a calm wave of satisfied children, you witness the joy of the child.

Toilet Learning

Toilet learning is an activity your toddler will encounter daily. Children showing signs of readiness are introduced to toilet learning in a way that scaffolds the process from beginning to end. Toilet learning incorporates the practice of self-care, motor planning, and repetition until the toddler is able to toilet independently.
